Wearable device for women’s safety
Client Security watch Services Design Development Manufacturing 2020
Winlet is a project we oversaw for the Italian startup Security Watch that was born from the meeting of experts in security, surveillance and digital technology. The idea behind the collaboration with our industrial design agency was to devise and bring to market a wearable device equipped with an attacker deterrent alarm siren. We worked with the team of electronic and sound engineers to design and fine-tune the device with the goal of devising a device that is discreet, elegant, and hyper-feminine.
The problem
“One in three women worldwide experience physical or sexual violence, mostly from an intimate partner” UN Women
A device for women’s safety should be one that can adapt well to the different needs of each of them. By analyzing our target user, we realized that it was necessary to design a device capable of responding appropriately to different lifestyles. We created a versatile product that adapts well to different contexts and types of people.

Experience
Every aspect related to the ultizzo of the device was considered, first and foremost we analyzed the situations and states of mind in which our user would find herself using it. From this reflection, we opted for a system of enabling the call for help accessible even in panic conditions. The button that activates the alarm siren and the call to the center is almost as large as the entire device, making it extremely accessible even in panic conditions. The device is also equipped with two accessories that make it versatile: the first is a hook that we designed to give the user the ability to hang it on their keychain or necklace/bracelet. The second is a protective dome that allows the device to be carried inside a bag without running the risk of accidentally activating it.
