Kippy, pet device design
Kippy | pet device design for cats
Product design of a cat device with quick release, GPS and activity tracking
Industrial design project for Kippy, a company specializing in technology devices for pets. Founded in 2014 as a startup, Kippy focuses mainly on GPS devices for tracking lost pets, with an app that records data on pets’ physical activity thanks to an algorithm developed in collaboration with the Universities of Milan and Bologna.
Kippy has recently expanded its product range, focusing on cats. In this project, we collaborated with the client to create a device with multiple functionalities and an integrated adjustable silicone collar. This innovative pet device offers features such as WiFi, Bluetooth, accelerometer, SIM and a lithium battery. The project was first introduced to the market during CES 2023 in Las Vegas.
The project constraints that guided the team of designers and engineers were:
Create an industrial pet design evocative of Kippy’s brand identity.
To create an extremely lightweight and indestructible device.
Integrate a quick release system.
Optimize IP68 certification for water and dust resistance.
Optimize the design for assembly.
For this turnkey pet device project, we also oversaw the production equipment. The pet market is growing, with market research indicating an average increase of 7% per year. Pq Design Group is active in pet product design and is designing new technological devices for pets.
